History of the Rogues-
The year is 70 a.c., and the Earth is still in complete shambles after a cataclysmic event known as The 1,000 Year Crisis destroyed massive portions of the Earth. Entire populations disappeared and cities were wiped clean off the face of the planet, leaving a handful of survivors and the denizens of Earth's orbit to rebuild and prepare for the scenario of another terrifying incident like the one they had just encountered.
...It would be easier said than done.

The 1,000 Year Crisis-
For many years, the cause of the Crisis was shrouded in mystery. Technologies and powers the common people had no knowledge of had unexpectedly turned against their creators, massive orbital defense batteries firing relentless bombardments down on nearly hapless cities and complex energies lashing out against the sprawling towers of humanity's apparently futile efforts. As humanity reeled from from the unprovoked out lash, the attacks mysteriously and eerily subsided. In the incident's wake, the face of the Earth and it's continents were reformed, and the survivors awoke to a horrible new reality. Not only had the planet been reformed, but humanity came face to face with a terrible power. Known only as the Machina, this Unearthly power began to sow a strange form of technology through humanity's gene pool, fusing organic with strange synthetic elements, turning many people into a form of cybernetic mutant. Even more terrible was the knowledge that many of these hostile cybernetic entities lay dormant below the surface of the Earth, and even now some began to arise from the ash and sand of the wastelands. Terrifying constructs bent on assimilating humanity into their fold, vying for the aspects of the human psych that the man-made could not hope to comprehend. Many of these forms began to war and form into alliances and cults, in some cases mimicking a foul form of mechanical religion, attempting to reach a higher form of understanding through the sacrifice of their former masters. While the incident had only lasted but a few hours, the effects of such a cataclysm would be felt well into the millenniums. Humanity was on the brink of destruction, but even still refused to give up. Their plans for survival would require a human effort of epic proportions.

The U.E.D.I.-
Formed in 5 a.c., a collection of shattered nations formed under the alliance of the orbital colonies, which were surprisingly intact, to create a global effort in stopping the Machina from causing any more destruction than had already happened. The United Earth Defense Initiative relied on nations surrendering their sovereignty to the Initiative in order to be monitored closely by it's specialists. These nations were formed into districts, marked by official boundaries and heraldries. These districts answered to a planetary command district, whom answered to High command in orbit. Many districts were collaborations of former nations, or merely fragments of what was before. Regardless of it's success, several powers refused to join the U.E.D.I., afraid of losing their independence and attempting to hold out on their own. While some survived, they proved to be merely a thorn in the side of the Initiative's efforts, allowing cybernetic threats to slip through their defenses to wreak havoc on civilians. These wars against the Machina would leave untold numbers of orphans. Orphans in desperate need of an upraising and a purpose...

The J.D.I.C.-
Originally, several districts petitioned for multiple programs to organize and maintain the youth left behind in the following clashes against the Machina's followers. While many of these propositions fell flat, The Clergy, an organization dedicated to the care of these orphans, proposed a junior defense program, allowing the young to acquire the skills and camaraderie necessary in this hostile world. Despite their headmistress Lady ophelia's original intentions, The Clergy had no idea how far the project would truly go. Trained under U.E.D.I standards, the protectorates of the Junior Defense Initiative Core proved to be just as valuable as their elders, if not even more in various districts. Advancements in the field of Bionetics, intricate quasi-biological enhancements would allow the protectorates to operate in extreme conditions and circumstances with unnerving efficiency. With this, the face of humanity had been altered in order to survive. Whether it would make or break this brave new world has yet to be seen...
